9 St Helena Breakfast Spots that Locals Love

(UPDATED January 2025)

These St. Helena Breakfast spots have everything from toasted breakfast sandwiches, omelets made with farm-fresh eggs and garden veggies, fluffy pancakes, and the tastiest, most crumbly pastries you can find in wine country. From revitalizing morning juices to all-day breakfast dining, these St. Helena restaurants have it all.

Right after I moved to St. Helena, one of the first things I googled was “where to eat breakfast in St. Helena”. You know how it is after you move to a new city. There’s no food in the fridge, and the last thing you want to do is head to the grocery store.

Thankfully, figuring out where to enjoy a good breakfast in this charming wine country town didn’t take long. There are so many great restaurants, cafes, and coffee houses right on Main Street, and they each have a little something different.

Whether you’re looking for breakfast on St. Helena’s Main Street, or you want to grab a bite on your way north to Calistoga, there’s something to satisfy everyone’s taste buds. If you’re in a hurry, don’t forget that many of these restaurants let you order online, and pick it up in under 20 minutes.

Farmstead, Cafe at Long Meadow Ranch

Long Meadow Ranch is one of the most popular brunch spots in St. Helena thanks to their boozy brunches, but what most visitors don’t know is that the restaurant also has a cafe that serves casual breakfast items sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches, avocado toast, fresh pastries, and muffins.

The Farmstead Cafe at Long Meadow Ranch is located right on Highway 29, which makes it great for grabbing a drip coffee, a latte, or a quick bite before you head north to Calistoga or south to downtown Napa.

Long Meadow Ranch’s cafe is also dog-friendly, so your pup can come too.

Craving a savory breakfast? The smoked salmon toast, insanely thick avocado toast, quiches, and biscuit and egg sandwiches are all excellent.

If you’re an early riser, lunch starts at 10:30 in the morning, so you could try a healthy grain bowl, breakfast smoothies, or a turkey baguette.

After you enjoy one of The Station’s tasty breakfast menu items, don’t forget to take a picture in front of the bright red “I love you” sign.

The Model Bakery, St Helena

Stacked English muffins from the Model Bakery in St. Helena

Let’s talk about St Helena’s Model Bakery, the super charming, Oprah-approved bakery that is always, always packed with locals, visitors, and influencers hoping to get the perfect Instagrammable shot of their world famous English muffins. When I first heard that there was a breakfast restaurant in St. Helena that was known just for English muffins, I was a little suspicious.

It’s an English muffin; aren’t they all pretty similar? Wow. Was I wrong. Model Bakery’s English muffins are the biggest, most pillowy, buttery muffins I’ve ever seen. These are easily the best English muffins you will eat in your entire life. In addition to these drool-worthy baked goods, you can also pick up chocolate croissants, scones, seasonal muffins, house-made granola, and breakfast sandwiches.

Pro Tip: Before you go, it’s worth noting that the wait at Model Bakery can be long. I’ve waited as long as 20 minutes for a hot-from-the-toaster English muffin. And, there is always a line. If you’re in a hurry, be sure to plan ahead and order online.

How does this sound? A sit down breakfast in St. Helena on the porch of a Victorian-style hotel. Pretty great, right? Acacia House is the most Instagram-worthy spot in all of St. Helena’s wine country, and their breakfast is to die for.

Picture this: Croissant Bread Pudding French Toast with vanilla mascarpone, fruit and maple syrup. “Healthy Elvis” Banana & Almond Toast with almond butter, coconut, cocoa nibs, and tonka bean. In 2024, Caffe della Valle closed and rebranded as Valley Caffe. The menu is largely the same and you can order delivery or schedule a pick up here.

When you ask a local for a recommendation for breakfast in St. Helena, Caffe della Valle will be at the top of the list. Locals love breakfast at St Helena’s Caffe della Valle because you can get a quick meal and be on your way, or a quick meal and relax with the best lattes in town. Personally, my favorite breakfast item is the turkey, egg, and cheese breakfast panini. The bread is perfectly toasted, the turkey and egg are hot, and the cheese is super melty.

This European-style cafe also has lox with cream cheese, Belgian waffles, eggs Benedict, omelets, and granola parfaits.
